Abstract

Intrinsic motivation for social work needs to be strengthened much more
nowadays than in the past. An example is the Daughters of Charity, who
drew their motivation from their formation, their spiritual motivation, a
systematic spiritual life, and self-care that had spiritual foundations and
depth. The principles of self-care and self-relationship, which influence
motivation to help others, have an important position in working life.
After completing the intervention program in the implemented research,
it is important for social workers working in the non-profit sector and
state administration to work on improving self-care through selected
aspects in their daily and working lives. These aspects result from exercises
through the principles of gestalt therapy and person-centred therapy. The
principles of the aforementioned therapies can be beneficial for the area of self-development, self-acceptance, and self-awareness of social workers.
Intervention programs should include self-care competencies in the daily
practice of the professional and personal lives of social workers.
